My elbows stick to the top of a tall table in the bar,
My chin sits in my hands. Saturnalia. Sleepwalking.
Cranberry. I convince my sister that I am sure of this,
The fruit juice in a Cosmopolitan is that perfect shade of pink.
Plus, they drink plenty of them in Sex in the City and speaking of
Sex, did you know Cranberry juice is really good for—
Next round. The Sopranos. Billie Eilish. Science! My beer is Latina,
Called “Tomo la flor.” “Drink the flower.” Translated it myself.
Bathroom break. The mirror is foggy and scratched up
And why is the lightbulb blue? Where is my lip balm?
The table is still sticky when I come back. Allegory of the Cave.
I am tipsy and being here is the best part of being alive
Right now. I cannot wait to tell everyone we are about to get
Fourth place and even though there are only four teams here
That is still impressive because we have a lot of points.
Punxsutawney Phil. I am afraid of Groundhog’s Day,
What six more weeks of winter might do to my will power,
My chance of getting out of bed, my choice not to do anything
Drastic every luteal phase and hormone drop.
Grey’s Anatomy. Next month I will drive myself
To get my first pap smear. Then go to class. I think I am
Really killing this shit. Growing up. Knowing things.
