Plight

by Carl Scharwath

March 29, 2026 | Poetry | Heartbroken, Moved

Born to whispers of regret,

their tiny hands grasp at empty air—

love, a ghost that never stays.

In corners, they learn silence;

their eyes are cracked glass,

watching worlds that turn away.

Small hearts left unclaimed

still push love through the cracks,

blooming in the soil of the unwanted.
